Slovak part of the Carpathian Euroregion includes the territory of east
Slovakia which is administratively divided into the Kosice and Presov lands. It comprises
the following administrative districts: Bardejov, Humenne, Kosice, Medzilaborce,
Michalovce, Presov, Sabinov, Snina, Sobrance, Stropkov, Svidnik, Trebisov and Vranov.
The total area of the Slovak part of the Euroregion is 10 458 km2
The Carpathian Mountains account for almost all this area and it is here where the
natural borderlines between the Western and Eastern and the Inner and Outer Carpathians
can be noticed. The highest mountain peaks are about 1200 m above sea level.
| Similarly to other countries of the Euroregion, Slovakia
boasts of many natural values. The eastern part has features characteristic of the
Carpathian Mountains, both Western and Eastern. The region's most important natural
resources come within the system of environment protection and there has been created a
Poloniny National Park as well as Vychodne Karpaty, Vihorlat, Latorica and Slovensky Kras
landscape parks and numerous reserves and monuments of nature. The Poloniny National Park
and part of the Vychodne Karpaty Landscape Park are included in the International

The Slovak part of the Euroregion lies in the catchment area of the Danube. The largest rivers of the region: Torysa, Topla, Ondava and Laborec have their sources in the wooded mountains of the Carpathians. On the rivers there are several artificial reservoirs, among them Zemplinska Sirava (also called the Slovak Sea) and Velka Domasa.
The climat of this region has both Atlantic and continental features.
The Slovak part of the Euroregion has 1 108 000 inhabitants. Its eastern part is ethnically diversified: Ruthenians, Hungarians and Gipsies form a significant percentage of the population.

ACCOMMODATION
| From a tourist's point of view, the Slovak part is a very attractive region although not well known. The most interesting places are the mountains of Vihorlat, Lower Beskid, Bukovskie Wierchy and Cerchova, the artificial lakes: Zemplinska Sirava and Velka Domasa as well as picturesque villages and small towns. |

Selected places which are worth seeing:
Bardejov It is a picturesque and peaceful small town near the Polish-Slovak border. There has been preserved a medieval archaeological layout with a large town square and defense walls. Morover, one should see:
In the proximity of Bardejov there is a health resort Bardejovskie Kupele and a skansen. |

Kosice
Kosice is the biggest town of the Eastern Slovakia - it has over 240 000 inhabitants, located by the border with Hungary. The most interesting monuments are:
Medzilaborce
This small town is worth mentioning because of the museum of the Warhol family. Famous Andy Warhol's parents come from the nearby village Mikova.
Presov
It is an important administrative centre which has over 90 000 inhabitants. The monuments that can be found there are:
