The mountains of Bieszczady, Lower Beskid and Foothills offer excellent conditions to practise hiking and skiing. The waters of the region (artificial reservoirs in particular) attract the lovers of recreation, water sports (sailing and canoeing) and fishing. Health resorts of Iwonicz, Rymanów and Horyniec wait for visitors. Horse riding and cicling have recently become very popular.
The region abounds in valuable monuments. Those especially worth seeing are:
  • old town complexes of Biecz, Jarosław, Krosno, Przemyśl, Rzeszów and Tarnów
  • monuments representing defensive and residential architecture, among them the castle in Łańcut
  • sacral monuments (Catholic churches and monasteries, Uniate and Orthodox churches, several synagogues). Particular attention should be paid to the wooden churches of the region, some of them date back to the 15th-16th centuries.
  • folk culture monuments collected in the skansens - open-air museums of Sanok, Kolbuszowa, Zyndranowa, Markowa and Przeworsk

Accommodation

The accommodation infrastructure of the region is well developed and adapted to serve the needs of visiting guests. There are expensive hotels, rest-houses and pensions, nevertheless, a tourist will not have problems with finding cheap accommodation: private rooms, hostels, mountain huts and camping sites. Recently, agrotourist farms have become very popular. They not only offer an accommodation but also other attractions such as horse and bike rides or camp-fire events.

The distribution of accommodation places in the region is quite uniform but the areas most frequented by tourists: the Bieszczady Mountains, Lower Beskid and health resorts (Rymanów Zdrój and Iwonicz Zdrój) offer the majority of accommodation facilities.

To receive detailed information about the accommodation facilities in particular regions please contact tourist information centres.
