General information

The Ukrainian Carpathians are remarkable for their rich recreational potential that favours development of sanatoria and health resorts and tourism. Circa 800 mineral water wells of practically all balneological types with total daily outflow of over 57,5 thousand cubic meters are situated here. On the bases of largest and most valuable mineral water sources famous health resorts such as Truskavets, Morshyn, Skhidnytsia, Lubin Velyky, Poliana, Kvasy and others work. Considerable number of medicinal peatbogs and ozocerite along with pure air and splendid views favour the development of balneological and climatic health resorts.
Besides natural ones, the Ukrainian Carpathians are rich of their historical cultural and recreational resources - the original culture of hutzuls, boykos and lemkos - mountain ethnographic groups of ukrainians.
All this favoured the development of both summer and winter mountain skiing tourism. Considerable perspectives of development of tourism are connected with agricultural tourism which is actively developing now.
