Minerals

Presence of minerals in the Precarpathians and the Transcarpathians conditioned development of mining industry. In particular, in the Precarpathians oil and gas (in the regions of Dolyna, Dashava, Bytkiv), sulphur (Yavoriv) are extracted; potassium salts are extracted in open-pit mines near Kalush, and table salt is extracted in underground mines near Solotvino in the Transcarpathians. Mountain landscapes are source of building materials. On the slopes of the volcanic ridge, in the Rakhiv crystal massif, in the valley of Bystrytsia Nadvirnianska river near Bytkiv etc stone and detritus mine-working careers are situated. On the border between Lviv and Volyn regions near Chervonograd stone cox is extracted.
