Bus excursion to the town of Zhovkva and the Krekhiv Monastery.
Krekhiv. In XVIII c. hundreds of pilgrims from over Dniper and Don, Wallachia, Greece and even far-off island of Crete came there. According to a legend, the monastery appeared in early XVII c., when monks from Kiev-Pechersk monastery Silvester and Iolus came and settled down in the cave of Timor's Stone. The monastery lies in a nice pine forest, which belongs to Yavoriv national park.
Zhovkva. A town of about thirty thousand inhabitants, but the quantity of historical monuments it may compete with Lviv and Kiev possessing a lot of interesting monuments of XVII-XVIII cc. . In Zhovkva is worth to visit royal castle of Jan Sobieski (1594), Hlynska Brama (Gates of Hlyniany) XVII c., St. Trinity Church at Basilian monastery (1612), a synagogue since XVII c., St Laurence cathedral church of 1618, Church of Nativity of Christ.
