More than 340 minerals have been determined in the Ukrainian Carpathians. It is almost half of its quantity known in the Ukrainian territory as well as in the Carpathians region. Mineral content percentage is like to average ones in the Earth crust. For the Ukrainian Carpathians part increased quantities of the silicates, sulphides, natural substances and carbonates are characteristic. Sulphides together with natural substances determine metallogenic specialisation of the region while sulphates and carbonates – nonmetalliferous one. During last ten years more than 100 minerals has been revealed and 50 among them are quite rare and the only finds in Ukraine, five of them has been discovered in the Ukrainian Carpathians for the first time.

Key words: mineral, Ukrainian Carpathians, the first discovery.

Quantitative termobarogeochemical modelling of gold-bearing fields in the local forecast practice

Yu. Lyakhov, M. Pavlun’, I. Popivnyak, S. Tsikhon’

Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Hrushevskogo st. 4, UA – 79005 Lviv, Ukraine

Thermobarogeochemical studies studies, detailed mapping and modelling of the gold-bearing objects (deposits, zones etc.) are the important elements of the forecast-searching complex. Paleohydrosystem thermostatic control degree expressed in the quantitative estimations of vertical paleothermal gradients is the value of mineralization perspectives, its vertical scale and display forms. On the whole with thermostatic control processes lowering (Δt from 5–10 to 30–40ºÑ per 100 m) the vertical mineralization scale shortens regularly while its concentration increases. The last fact is important during determination of searching priority of the potentially gold-bearing regions.

Key words: thermobarogeochemistry, thermostatic control, paleothermal gradient, gold mineralization.

On geological parameters and character of mineralization they concern to a new geological-industrial type, to which the Mayske gold deposit is close also. The new way of deciphering polymineral non-electromagnetic fractions decrepitation curves has been proposed. This express technique may be applied to mapping halo interaction of endogenous fluids with rocks for purposes discovering the “blind” potential ore-bearing zones. Its special effectiveness becomes apparent in search of ore-bodies in highly metamorphosed diaphthorized rocks, which are devoid of evident visible indications of ore guides.

Fluid regimes of magmatic mineral forming (by results of inclusions study)

I. Bakumenko

Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Hrushevskogo st. 4, UA – 79005 Lviv, Ukraine

The results of melt and syngenetic fluid inclusions (which isolate on the magmatic stage of crystallisation) researches are considered. The research of inclusions in minerals of granitoids, granite pegmatites and in rhythmical-zone quartz-feldspar aggregates from granites and granite pegmatites has enabled to reconstruct appropriate fluid regimes. The features of fluids functioning in basaltoid magmas of andesite and alkaline-earth formations and in products of their differentiation are considered. Data about cavity formation on a final stage of basic and persilic lava’s crystallisation, which results in formation of agates, is resulted.

The problem, which can be solved due to anakysis of mineralogical information (study of accessory minerals) is a similarity of geological processes and phenomena. The mathematical methods are the bull tool of mineralogical studies supplying simulation of processes both issues of the forecasts and hypotheses. Miocene K-Mg sulphate deposits of the Carpathian foredeep occur on two stratigraphic horizons. Lower of them belongs to Eggenburgian stage, the age of upper one is debatable – either Ottnangian or Badenian. We have determined the radiometric age of 15 specimens of two genetic varieties of polyhalite by K/Ar method. Polyhalite from red bedded polyhalite rock occurring at the places of wedging out of potash salt deposits and polyhalite from polyhalite-anhydrite strata which are situated at the salt breccia near the contact of potash salt deposits have been investigated. Radiometric age data pf polyhalite from red polyhalite rock vary from 8.3 to 14.7 Ma. Radiometric age determined for polyhalite from polyhalite-anhydrite layers turned out to be younger, from 5.7 to 12.3 Ma.

Comparison of ages of the same varisties of polyhalite from Stebnyck (Eggenburgian) and Kalush-Holyn (Ottnangian?, Badenian?) deposits does not show significant differences. The origin of polyhalite is connected with tectonic events during the history of the Carpathian foredeep geological development. The large dispersion of polyhalite dates obtained for polyhalite-anhydrite strata may suggest that they have been formed during several stages.

Key words: polyhalite, evaporite, argon-40, dating, Miocene, Carpathian foredeep.

Some problems of the basalt volcanic series systematisation

K. Sveshnikov, V. Pashchenko

Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Hrushevskogo st. 4, UA – 79005 Lviv, Ukraine

E-mail: zaggeol@franko.lviv.ua

The searching of the differences between differentiation–crystallisation paths of magmatic melts corresponding to different magmatic series and their systematisation on this basis remain one of the most important problems in the magmatic geology. The using of the (FeO+Fe2O3)–MgO–CaO diagrams with dots of major rock-forming mineral composition on them shows some quality distinctions between different type series, which can not be established by the other methods. The quality diagram, showing the correlation between geodynamics and petrochemical features (mean content of SiO2 and Al2O3/CaO ratio) of the basaltoid series, has been proposed.

Nature of inter-layered water in the hydromicas

P. Bilonizhka

Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Hrushevskogo st. 4, UA – 79005 Lviv, Ukraine

Å-mail: geomin@geof.franko.lviv.ua

Nature of the inter-layered water in hydromicas on the basis of laboratory investigations and literature data analysis has been considered. Inter-layered water in hydromica from sedimentary rocks with faint post-sedimentation alteration is mainly connected with swelled montmorillonite layers in its structure. On the DTA curves one can see endothermal effect of the water exudation under 200ºC. Characteristic peculiarity of these hydromicas is asymmetric structure of d001 = 10 Å reflection raised and complicated from small angles side. Molecular water in the micas is in the hexagonal cells non-occupied with potassium ions. Under hydromicas heating the water exudates about 300ºC. Oxonium presence in the hydromicas needs supplementary discussion.

Key words: hydromicas, montmorillonite, inter-layered water, oxonium, thermal analysis, X-ray examination.

E-mail: sunflower@fk.lutsk.ua

Geology in the 21st century will apparently be defined by an active development of biomineralogy. Its development is studied on the example of man’s biomineralogy. Ways of development of this branch of science are physiological biomineralogy and pathological biomineralogy. The most important problems of studying the “man’s mineralogy” are following: the spreading of the disease depending on the outer factors, mineralogy of the pathological formations and microelements of the pathological formations. A short analysis of biomineralogical problems on the example of a man shows that this branch of science will develop rapidly in the 21st century. The reason of it is the necessity in people’s being healthy, in curing and preventive maintenance the diseases, and in the development and usage of new biomaterials and biotechnologies.
