Viability of populations of Symphytum cordatum Waldst. et Kit. ex Willd. in the Ukrainian Carpathians and on the adjacent lowland territories

The article deals with the study of viability of mountain and lowland populations of subendemic Carpathian species Symphytum cordatum in various ecological conditions, including north-eastern and upper limits of the species distribution. Factors, which have the greatest influence on viability of populations of S. cordatum were established and its most informative and determinant characteristics were defined. Recommendations on conservation of the peripheral lowland populations of S. cordatum are presented.
