Current status of leisler’s bat (Chiroptera) on the territory of Kharkov region

Leisler’s bat was recoded in 3 localities in Kharkiv region (since 2000 to 2008 years 170 specimens were captured), two localities are the forests where this species breeds (Bogoduhov& Krasnkutsk (pine forest) and Zmiev districts (oak forest)), and the other locality is stop-point on the autumn migration way (Izum district). Leisler’s bats settle in hollows of old (upward then 100 years) trees (n=6), and prefer oaks. The middle high to hollow entrances is 4,85m, the biggest part of hollows has unwoodpeckers origin. Birth of young starts in the second decade of June and continues for the first decade of July. The first self consistent flights this-year-born bats start with body weight 9,8 g, up to the end of July body weight of young Leisler’s grows on 24%. Body weight of adult females stays on equal level during July (15,2 and 15,3 g), and grows on 10% on the beginning of August. Among adult Leisler’s bat females has 100%, among this-year-born bats sex ratio is equal 1:1. During the autumn migration, at the beginning of August this species has the highest percent (8%) and ratio come down for the and of August (1–2%).
